The maximum load a wire can withstand without breaking when its length is reduced to half of its original length, will:

(d) Hint: Breaking stress is independent of the length of the wire.

Step 1: Find the breaking stress of the wire.

We, know that,

Breaking stress = \frac{Breaking force}{Area of cross - section}

When the length of the wire changes, the area of the cross-section remains the same.

Hence, the breaking force will be the same when length changes.
