Chloromethane on treatment with excess of ammonia yields mainly:
1. N, N-dimethylmethanamine
2. N-methylmethanamine (CH —NH—CH)
3. Methanamine (CHNH)
4. Mixture containing all these in equal proportion
Although, if the two reactants will react in an equal amount, then a mixture of products is formed as a primary, secondary, and tertiary amine.
